Poem.org is not directed toward children under the age of 13. We require that children under the age of 13 get a parent's permission before viewing or particapating at poem.org. Poem.org collects information about its members by obtaining an email address and ip logging for the purposes of registration. We use cookies for the purpose of making the site dynamic for each user. We have advertising links to google.com and amazon.com. We strongly link to magnify.net (please refer to magnify.nets policy on children under 13). We discouage the use of real names in usernames and screenames and encourage members to hide email addresses. Members have the ability to create a profile where they can post links to their instant messager such as google talk, aim and others.

Personal Information such as your name, e-mail address, postal address and/or telephone number provided to Poem Online by you or to us through other sources about you is never sold to, given to, nor shared with any individual, company, organization, etc. unless we obtain permission to do so by you or are legally and formally ordered to do so by a United States law.
When using our Poetry Community forums, please note that the forums software uses cookies and also logs your IP address for moderating purposes. We use cookies that enable functions to help make your experience on the forums faster loading and more convenient for you such as "remembering" who you are and which forums and threads you have visited, maintaining your login connection, and for aiding our website to interact with many different users at the same time. The logging of your IP address aids in identifying you and the location of the machine or network you are visiting from. This help us maintain security for the site as a whole, and for you, too, in the event someone hacks onto the site with your username and password. Again, as with any other personal information we may have collected about you, your IP information is never released to an outside party unless we are legally and formally ordered to do so by a court of law.
Upon joining the Poem Online Community, you have the ability to display your e-mail address in your profile and within the posts you make. We highly recommend that you disable the display of your e-mail address because "spam bots" or "webcrawler bots" have been known to visit forums sites such as Poem Online which scan the public posts grabbing all available e-mail addresses publicly listed. To disable the display of your e-mail address, visit your Profile page, and put a checkmark in the box under "Preferences" which says, "Hide E-Mail from Public." If you desire to share your e-mail address with another Poem Online member, you can always send it to him or her via the forum's private message feature.
Poem Online is known to have a close-knit community atmosphere. While we do encourage this, we also want you to remember that, though only subscribed members can post on our forums, the forums pages are publicly viewable by anyone with an Internet connection—and that includes the "bad guys." We recommend you do not post personal info about yourself such as your address and phone number or other information that may breach your personal security or that of your household, school or employer.
As a courtesy, Poem Online may send emails concerning your account.
From time to time, we may contact our entire member-base to announce upcoming special events, new services or features, information on scheduled or those dreaded "surprise" service outages, etc.
Please Note: Poem Online would never send you e-mail with attachments included. If you receive an e-mail with an attachment which says it is from us, please do not open it, for it most likely was not sent by us and also most likely contains a virus. Also, Poem Online would never send you e-mail requesting info such as your credit card number, address, or other personal information. If you receive either types of these e-mails, or any other suspicious e-mail which claims to be sent by us, please do not reply to the suspicious e-mail, or open any attachments sent with it.
